China’s first 500W level micro gas turbine generator successfully tested

Recently, the first domestically designed and developed 500W lightweight and movable micro gas turbine generator prototype, independently designed and developed by Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Aerospace Propulsion”), has been successfully tested, and its performance indicators fully meet the design requirements.

It is reported that the energy density of micro gas turbine generators can reach up to 1500W/kg, far higher than existing technological routes such as fuel cells, conventional solid-state battery packs, piston engine generators, and Stirling generators. This type of generator has the advantages of small size, light weight, and strong environmental adaptability, but at the same time, it has the characteristic of difficult research and development technology. Currently, only a few companies in the world have related similar products.

The product has the advantages of high power density, small size, light weight, long service life, low noise (less than or equal to 60dB from 7 meters away), and easy portability. It is adaptable to multiple fuels (diesel, kerosene, etc.), can start and stop with one click, automatically sense power load, and automatically adjust turbine output power. It has the ability to simultaneously output 220V AC and 24V DC electricity. It can work in a wide range of atmospheric environments from 0 to 4500m altitude and minus 50 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius, meeting the requirements of independent or parallel use. Under the condition of combined heat and power supply, the thermal comprehensive utilization efficiency can reach over 95%

The successful completion of this test marks that Aerospace Propulsion has overcome multiple technical difficulties of this type of generator and has successfully entered the stage of small-scale trial production and delivery in engineering.

The person in charge of Aerospace Propulsion stated, “This product can flexibly solve the problem of low-power electricity consumption for users in different working environments. It can be used as a portable power source for outdoor environments such as mountainous areas, jungles, and plateaus, as well as a power source for drones and special vehicles such as RVs and long-distance trucks. It has broad application prospects in the military and civilian fields. Based on the technological achievements of this product, the company will gradually launch 1000W, 3000W, 10kW, and 30kW series generator products to meet the needs of users in more application scenarios and actively promote the transformation of aerospace power technology into the civilian field
